The Club has been established to spread the positive force of surfing and the sport to
the military members here on the base that make the sacrifice on a daily basis for the
freedoms of our country.

Mission of the Camp Pendleton Surf Club

The Camp Pendleton Surf Club is made up of surfers on Active duty and their families who are stationed aboard Camp Pendleton. The club is also open to reservists, retirees, DOD personnel and all branches of service stationed aboard Camp Pendleton and surrounding community. The club has been established to spread the positive force of surfing and to the military members here on the base that make the sacrifices on a daily basis for our country’s freedoms.

Our club is fortunate that our base is located with 25 miles of coastline and some of the best breaks in Southern California, which we are privileged to have right in our own back yard. No matter what your level or degree of surfing is, you are invited to come and share your stories, make new ones, and become a member of our special club.

Upcoming Events

Pendleton Surf Club Meeting April 24, 2021

The weather is getting good, the swells are switching, and things are looking up.  I realize the $50 deposit maybe a little much, but it will be refunded.  Please sign up so we know the numbers for those attending.  Bring your wives, kids, or fellow service men and women who may be interested.  This is their chance to test the waters with equipment provided.  We will have a great time and make things happen.  We will incorporate a beach cleanup, break bread together and enjoy eachothers company in the water.  Share the word and lets get people in the water, challenge each other and have some fun.

Our next meeting will be the 24th of April at Del Mar Jetty on Camp Del Mar, aboard Camp Pendleton. We are joining forces with AMPSURF.ORG to assist in getting people in the water.  What this joint venture will cover is as follows:

  1. AmpSurf will provide the boards and the wetsuits for surf instruction.
  2. Instructors will be available to teach and assist those that want to learn.
  3. This is open to active-duty personnel, reservists, veterans, club members and family members thereof.

This will all be free to all those that sign up.  For those coming out to learn there is a $50 refundable deposit required.  The deposit will be refunded back to all those that participate in the surf instruction.  The reason for the deposit is to ensure those that sign up, show up to participate.  AmpSurf is coming a long way to assist our Club members and community and we want to make sure they have people there to teach. For those that are already competent surfers we need you to sign up as volunteers for the event.  Signups close April 17th.

The Pendleton Surf Clubs role in all of this is to provide an opportunity for those who do not have equipment yet, such as the wetsuits and boards to come participate, have dedicated instruction along with the equipment provided by Amp Surf.  This is an opportunity to get advice, confidence, learn, share, grow and network through surfing together.

This is the first step in many to get people to be volunteers in the water to help in future events for those with disabilities and so forth. With Covid measures being taken, more events are happening, and we can get more and more volunteers to help at these events, or even more important, when we as a club hold our surf contest in the future, we can help each other and make this happen. So as your President of this club, I am asking for your support to sail forward with helping this one facet of our club.

If you have any questions, please reach out via email so that I can ask any questions or concerns you may have. Please pass this email on to those that would be interested.
